What is Bacteriostatic Water?

Bac water is a sterile water solution containing 0.9% (9 mg/mL) Benzyl Alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth. Unlike Sterile Water (which is preservative-free and single-use), Bacteriostatic Water can be used multiple times within a ~28-day period when stored properly.

How to Use Bacteriostatic Water for Research

Step 1: Gather Supplies

  • Bacteriostatic Water (from EvoHelix)
  • Sterile syringes & needles
  • Alcohol wipes

Step 2: Reconstitution Process

  1. Sanitize the vial tops with alcohol wipes.
