What is Bacteriostatic Water?
Bac water is a sterile water solution containing 0.9% (9 mg/mL) Benzyl Alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth. Unlike just Sterile Water (which is preservative-free and single-use), Bacteriostatic Water can be used multiple times within a ~28-day period when stored properly.
EvoHelix BAC water is a direct substitution for Hospira and other pharmaceutical-grade diluents. EvoHelix uses ONLY ultra pure nuclease-free molecular grade sterile and pyrogen-free water as a base for our bacteriostatic water, processed with multi-stage sub-micron filtration and sterilization rated for applications such as PCR, DNA/RNA workflows, buffer preparation and general molecular biology research use. Our Bac water adheres to all United States Pharmacopeia (USP) guidelines for pH and concentration for anti-microbial content <USP-341>
Why is Bacteriostatic Water Essential for Research?
- Reconstitutes lyophilized peptides (e.g., BPC-157, DSIP, Epitalon, Retatrutide).
- Maintains sterility for extended periods compared to plain sterile water.
- Prevents contamination in multi-use research applications.
- Ensures accurate dosing when preparing research solutions.
Applications of Bacteriostatic Water in Scientific Research
1. Peptide Reconstitution
Most research peptides are sold in lyophilized (freeze-dried) form and require reconstitution before use in experiments. Bacteriostatic water is the preferred diluent because:
- Preserves peptide stability
- Prevents microbial contamination
- Extends usability (up to 28 days when refrigerated)
Common peptides requiring bac water:
- BPC-157 (tissue repair studies)
- DSIP (sleep and neuroprotection research)
- Epitalon (anti-aging and telomere studies)
- Retatrutide (metabolic research)
2. SARMs & Nootropics Preparation
Some SARMs (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators) and nootropics are also supplied in powder form and may require dilution for precise dosing in research settings.
3. Laboratory Sterilization & Equipment Use
Bac water can be used for:
- Cleaning lab instruments
- Preparing control solutions
- Diluting compounds for in-vitro studies

How to Use Bacteriostatic Water for Research
Step 1: Gather Supplies
- Lyophilized peptide or research compound
- Bacteriostatic Water (from EvoHelix)
- Sterile syringes & needles
- Alcohol wipes
Step 2: Reconstitution Process
- Sanitize the vial tops with alcohol wipes.
- Draw the desired amount of bacteriostatic water into a sterile syringe.
- Slowly inject the water into the peptide vial (avoid forceful spraying).
- Gently swirl (do not shake) until fully dissolved.
- Store reconstituted peptides at 2-8°C (36-46°F) and use within the recommended timeframe.
Storage & Stability
- Unopened bacteriostatic water: Store at room temperature (15-30°C).
- After opening: Refrigerate (2-8°C) and use within 28 days.
- Reconstituted peptides: Follow specific stability guidelines for each compound.
